GreenRoof Vento
A ballast-based, overlay solar mounting system designed for flat roofs with green roof build-ups. It enables penetration-free photovoltaic installations while maintaining roof drainage, load control, and compatibility with extensive green roof assemblies

K2 GreenRoof Vento is a non-penetrative, ballast-based PV mounting system developed for use on flat roofs incorporating green roof layers. The system is designed to sit on pressure-resistant roof constructions and integrates with green roof build-ups while allowing photovoltaic arrays to be installed without compromising the waterproofing layer.
The system uses PE base plates and ballast to achieve stability, with solar mounting structures fixed to a modular aluminium and steel framework. GreenRoof Vento is suitable for roofs with pitches up to 5° and is available in fixed tilt angles of 10° and 15°, with multiple array configurations (A-shape, V-shape, and S-shape) to suit different module layouts and site constraints .
Ballast requirements and structural performance are calculated using K2’s dedicated planning software, K2 Base, which generates project-specific layouts, parts lists, and static analysis reports. This ensures compliance with wind loading and structural requirements while allowing flexibility in system design and module dimensions.
GreenRoof Vento is compatible with a wide range of framed PV modules and supports modern large-format panel sizes. The system incorporates defined thermal separation zones and wind bracing strategies to manage expansion, wind uplift, and long-term stability, particularly on larger roof areas.
As a modular system, K2 GreenRoof Vento is typically specified where a robust, engineer-led solar mounting solution is required alongside green roof or ballasted roof constructions. It is often used on commercial and industrial projects where detailed structural coordination and flexible layout options are a priority.
