Overview

Lawrence Road is a multi-block development requiring a large-scale, integrated solar PV system across multiple Bauder flat roof areas. A 65.98kWp Bauder BioSolar system was supplied and installed using Aiko 455W panels, providing clean, renewable power while maintaining the waterproof integrity of the roof. Working closely with Contour Roofing and Bauder, the project delivered a high-performance system split across five roof areas, with tailored electrical configurations for each core.

The Challenge

The project involved multiple roof sections, each with different electrical supply requirements. This meant the solar PV design had to be carefully tailored to suit available supply capacity and site demand. The Bauder BioSolar system also required precise layout and installation to maintain waterproofing integrity, with all welding works remaining within the roofing contractor’s scope. In addition, careful coordination of materials and logistics was required, including the reuse of surplus stock from a previous Denmark Hill project.

The Solution

All PV materials were supplied, anchor boards were marked out and laid, and bespoke mounting solutions were fabricated for the Bauder BioSolar frames. The system was installed across five roof areas with individual electrical configurations: Roof Area 1 (Core 1) received 48 Aiko 455W panels (21.84kWp) connected to a Solis 20kW three-phase inverter on a 40A supply; Roof Areas 2 and 3 (Core 2) were fitted with 18 panels (8.19kWp) using a Solis 8kW three-phase inverter on a 20A supply; and Roof Areas 4 and 5 (Core 3) accommodated 80 panels (36.4kWp) connected to a Solis 36kW three-phase inverter on a 63A supply.

All systems were installed without penetrating the roof waterproofing and in full accordance with Bauder best practice. Close coordination between the solar installation team and Contour Roofing ensured a seamless interface between roofing and PV works.

The Result

The completed 65.98kWp solar PV system now delivers significant on-site renewable generation across the development, reducing reliance on grid electricity and supporting long-term energy cost savings. The Bauder BioSolar mounting system preserves roof performance and biodiversity, while the tailored electrical design maximises output across each individual building core.
