Overview
A 58.5kWp solar PV system was delivered at St Mary’s Primary School in collaboration with Byford. The installation forms part of the school’s wider sustainability strategy, helping to reduce energy costs and carbon emissions while integrating seamlessly with Bauder’s BioSolar mounting system.
The Challenge
The project required the solar PV system to be installed on a Bauder BioSolar green roof, with all materials, including DC cabling, supplied by Byford. Careful coordination was needed to align the solar installation with ongoing roofing and electrical works, while ensuring full compliance with DNO requirements.
The Solution
A total of 136 SolarWatt 430W panels were installed, delivering a combined system capacity of 58.5kWp and connected to a Solis 50kW inverter. The Bauder BioSolar mounting system was supplied and installed as part of the roof build-up, allowing the solar array to be securely integrated without compromising the green roof’s performance. The system layout was designed to maximise energy generation while maintaining roof integrity.
The Result
The completed system now generates an estimated 55.6MWh of clean electricity each year, reducing carbon emissions by approximately 12.9 tonnes of CO₂ annually. This results in significant savings on electricity costs and supports the school’s long-term sustainability commitments.
